I have known Heather since kindergarten, and last night it was such an honor to be trusted with the memories of this day. I cry at ALL the weddings I have ever shot/2nd shot/assisted at/etc. There’s always something: a vow, a toast, a memory, a look. It never fails, and when you photograph someone you have known and loved a long time, it’s a strange experience. As I’m mentally calculating lighting and camera settings and distance and running back and forth, I’m catching snippets of my friend, their new loved one, I’m circling memories in my brain, and overall I’m just so happy when they are so happy. As I was shooting this ceremony, and especially as I listened to Nick’s vows to Heather, I was overwhelmed with nostalgia and happiness for her. I miss ditching school in your green car and you singing show tunes at cheer practice, and I’m just so very happy you have met someone that noticed the things about you Nick mentioned in his vows. It’s very easy to be dazzled by the glamor of a Radio City Rockette (because look! look how dazzling they all are!!), but it’s wonderful to hear him and know what he loves is what everyone there loves, that other Heather inside. Cheers to you, my friend, and so much happiness.
